Laurie Meeder, cellist/conductor
Laurie Meeder has been teaching private lessons in east central New Hampshire since 2000. Originally from Maryland, where she performed in several orchestras and ensembles, she taught elementary, middle and high school orchestra in the public schools, and string methods at Peabody Conservatory where she received a master's degree in music education.
In New Hampshire, she served on the faculty of the Concord Community Music School from 1999 - 2011, teaching private cello lessons, coaching ensembles and conducting festival orchestras. From 2000 - 2013, she ran a private studio in Wolfeboro NH, teaching all age levels and abilities on violin, viola, cello and bass and in ensembles. An active member of the American String Teachers Association, Ms. Meeder is a past president of the NH chapter, was named the NH ASTA string teacher of the year in 2003-04 and has presented sessions at the ASTA national conference.
Now back in Maryland, Ms. Meeder teaches orchestra at Magnolia Middle School in Joppa, MD and violin and cello for the after school music program at Gilman School in Baltimore. She also coaches ensembles and teaches private lessons in Anne Arundel and Baltimore counties.
Ms. Meeder performs frequently as a freelance cellist in Maryland and the northern New England area, and has been a frequent guest conductor for student festivals in ME, NH and VT.
